Three Impactful Habits to Create in 2025

It's that time of year again when the impending new year throws us into reflection.
For some of us, this turns into celebration as we acknowledge everything we've done in 2024.
For others, it brings up feelings of frustration or disappointment as we end another year in a eerily familiar position that we started it.
The difference between being in the first group over the latter?
Clarity and focus.
The mistakes I see over and over when it comes to goals, habits and making meaningful progress in your life are only having vague ideas about what you want to change and/or trying to change too many things at once.
To give you the gift of focus, I'm sharing the three key areas you need to create habits in for 2025. Within each area, get clear on what outcome you want. That's the goal.
The habit is the process that gets you to the outcome.
So what habits do you need to create in 2025?
Take care of your financial wellbeing.
However you feel about it, money is an integral part of our world system.
If you think about the biggest sources of stress in your life, I bet money is up there.
Affording to fly to your friends wedding. Paying an unexpected bill when the fridge implodes. Worrying that your savings seem to have disappeared yet again.
Feeling like you have enough money, that you’re supported by money doesn’t magically happen.
Earning more isn’t the solution you think it is. My income increased nearly 40% over the last 4 years and it wasn’t until I started getting serious about taking good care of it, did it actually feel like I was making that much more.
Your financial well-being is fundamental so it’s the first impactful habit you need to prioritise in 2025.
Inspiration for your 2025 finance habit:
Learn one financial concept a week. Podcasts are great for this, and free!
Set up an investing account and find an investing strategy you can implement.
Automate your savings to every time you get paid, you automatically add to your savings.
Have a monthly money date to review your spending.
Create a reminder to celebrate your money wins every single day.
Do one thing at work every week that would appear on the job description of your dream role or next promotion even if it scares you. Build those skills!
Experiment with side hustles to find a way to earn some extra cash that suits you.
Take care of your physical well-being.
I like to call this your vitality.
Modern medicine tends towards the absence of any obvious illness or issue. My experience with yoga, naturopathy and Ayurveda has taught me to look deeper. Do I feel energised, inspired alive?
In other words, do I feel vital?
Our physical body is part of us. There is no escaping it. And the physical informs the mental as much as the inverse is also true.
For that reason alone, it makes this list of impactful habits to create in 2025.
Inspiration for your 2025 vitality habit:
Shift how you view your body to something more supportive.
Eat like you love yourself.
Build a stretching and mobility practice.
Try a new exercise or movement based class every month.
Create a new healthy recipe each week.
Commit to eating breakfast every day (especially before your morning coffee!).
Learn about how your hormonal cycle works and adjust your habits and routines accordingly.
Take care of yourself.
I will never stop beating the drum that the most important relationship you have is the one you have with yourself.
This is the relationship you cannot escape.
This is the relationship that underpins your entire experience.
This is the relationship that you have complete control and influence over.
This is the relationship that is the most impactful.
A self relationship habit allows you to connect to yourself more.
This is the space where you can hear what you really want over the noise of what the world is telling you to want. For years, I told myself I wanted a Chanel handbag, I even had it as my phone screensaver, only to realise I have zero interest in having a Chanel handbag. This is what happens when we deepen our self relationship.
This is the space where you notice something is feeling off and can dig into what's out of alignment, meaning you can fix it. The clarity that a previous relationship was over hit me as I was walking along the street undistracted by anything. This is what happens when we're not constantly distracted by outside influences.
So of course the most impactful habit you can create in 2025 is one that allows you to connect with yourself more deeply.
Inspiration for your 2025 self relationship habit:
Meditation or some other quiet contemplation.
Eat meals without screens to cultivate an undistracted moment in your day.
Add morning pages to your routine where you journal out a stream of consciousness to start your day.
Move your phone out of your bedroom to stop starting your day distracted by Instagram.
Start journalling anytime you feel a bit off to explore what's going on for you.
Learn a new skill. We can learn so much about ourselves by being a beginner.
Make Future You Proud with your Impactful Habits
The biggest challenge with creating new habits is current you is less incentivised to follow through than future you. And sometimes we have trouble connecting to future you.
So I have a question for you:
What will make 80 year old you proud?
Picture yourself in the twilight years of your life. Maybe as a grandparent if you see that in your future. Maybe somewhere beachy, sunny and wonderful if that's what you see for yourself.
What does that version of you want from present day you?
Do they want you to buy the shirt or invest the money?
Do they want you drinks cocktails and skip the gym or to show up to the Pilates class?
Do they want you to settle for where you're at or do they want you to know yourself well enough to recognise you're dissatisfied and make moves to change things?
This perspective pulls you out of the present moment, to see clearly what serves you best long term (and sometimes that WILL look like cocktails over the gym!).
Remember all habits create outcomes. Meaning these impactful habits are contributing to a goal. If you're still frazzled by which of these habit ideas is the right one for you, book a Goal Gameplan session and we can figure it out together!
